Art Collector Peggy Guggenheim
Marguerite “Peggy” Guggenheim, born on August 26, 1898, was an American art collector. Peggy’s father was of Swiss-German Jewish origin, and her mother Jewish, German, and Dutch. Born to a wealthy family in New York City, she was the daughter of Benjamin Guggenheim, who went down with the 1912 Titanic disaster and the niece of Solomon R. Guggenheim, who established the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation. She died December 23, 1979.
