Astronaut Willy Schirra
Astronaut Walter Marty Schirra, Jr. (March 12, 1923 – May 3, 2007) was one of the original Mercury 7 astronauts chosen for the Project Mercury. It was the first NASA project that place humans in space.
Schirra was the only person to fly in all of America’s first three space programs – Mercury, Gemini and Apollo. He was the 5th American and the 9th human to ride a rocket into space.

First Man on the Moon
Neil Alden Armstrong, born on August 5, 1930 in Wapakoneta, Ohio, goes down to history as the first person to set foot on the moon. He is an American aviator and a former astronaut, university professor, and U.S. Naval Aviator. His first Spacelight was aboard Gemini 8 in 1966, for which he was the command pilot. On this mission, he performed the first manned docking of two spacecraft with pilot David Scott. Armstrong’s second and last spaceflight was as mission commander of the historic Apollo 11 moon landing mission on July 20, 1969. On this mission, Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin descended to the lunar surface and spent 2½ hours exploring while Michael Collins remained in orbit in the Command Module.
Armstrong is a recipient of the Congressional Space Medal of Honor.
